Competition Begins in 19 Events from July 23 to the End of September
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk, held the ‘2022 Yeongju Mayor’s Cup Sports Competition by Event’ at the National Sports Center on the 23rd, and will hold fierce competitions in 19 events until the end of September.
The Yeongju Mayor’s Cup Sports Competition by Event has been held annually to provide sports club members with opportunities for sports cultural activities and to promote citizens’ health improvement and harmony through sports.
This competition features a total of 19 events (Gateball, Ground Golf, Soft Tennis, Baseball, Park Golf, Jokgu, Soccer, Table Tennis, Bowling, Aerobic Hip-hop, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Golf, Tennis, Swimming, Archery, Futsal, Hangung), with about 4,000 athletes and officials participating, showcasing their honed skills at various venues including the Citizen Stadium.
At the opening ceremony, 19 individuals from each event’s association were awarded plaques of appreciation, expressing gratitude and encouragement for the efforts of sportspeople who raised the city’s prestige and contributed to sports development with exceptional dedication and passion despite the difficult conditions of COVID-19.
Mayor Park Nam-seo of Yeongju said, “I hope this competition becomes a festival that fosters harmony among sports club members and serves as a cornerstone for the development of local sports.”
