Realizing an Era of Happiness for Gunmin with Inclusive Dental Care Services
[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] The Gangjin County Public Health Center in Jeollanam-do has been operating a mobile dental clinic bus since the 20th to manage the dental health of residents in medically underserved areas with poor access to medical services.
The mobile dental clinic bus is staffed by a team of one dentist and one dental hygienist who visit welfare centers, daycare centers, facilities for the disabled, senior citizen centers, and more. Since 2010, it has provided oral health services such as oral examinations and consultations, proper tooth brushing education, scaling, fluoride application, and denture sterilization and cleaning to vulnerable medical groups in underserved areas, including the elderly, children, adolescents, and people with disabilities.
The dental mobile clinic vehicle is equipped with a wheelchair lift to allow residents who use wheelchairs, including people with disabilities, to use the service conveniently. Additionally, a denture sterilization cleaner is installed inside the vehicle to ensure hygienic denture care and prevent secondary oral diseases, which has received great positive feedback from residents.
Prior to this, the Public Health Center conducted oral health education and oral examinations for 50 children at four daycare centers in cooperation with the Gangjin County Child Meal Support Center.
Seo Hyun-mi, director of the Public Health Center, stated, “We will continue to operate the mobile dental clinic to provide various oral health services for residents in areas with limited access to medical institutions. Dental health can significantly affect quality of life. We are committed to doing our best to help maintain healthy teeth for a long time in this era of longevity.”
