The 239th Jinju City Council Extraordinary Session Held The 239th Jinju City Council extraordinary session is being held.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam is holding its first extraordinary session since the formation of the first half of the council to receive reports on major city administration tasks for this year and to begin the legislative schedule aimed at establishing itself as a working council.

On the 22nd, the city council convened the 1st plenary session of the 239th extraordinary session and will operate the session for eight days until the 29th.

This extraordinary session is the first opportunity since the opening of the 9th council to receive reports on Jinju City's tasks. Council members will listen to reports from each department and division from the 25th to the 28th and then question the current status and direction of this year’s city administration tasks.

Based on the respective departmental reports, council members will also prepare for the 2022 administrative audit to be conducted at the first regular session this year. Attention is focused on whether the sound supervision and checks on the executive branch, repeatedly emphasized by Chairman Yang Hae-young since the opening of the 9th council, will be properly implemented.

Additionally, the city council plans to deliberate and decide on 13 agenda items during this session, including 7 submitted ordinances and regulations and 4 plans and consent proposals from the executive branch.

The main items include ▲Consent for applying for funds for the Seongbuk District Urban Regeneration New Deal Project ▲Partial amendment to the Jinju City Ordinance to Promote the Revitalization of the Local Construction Industry ▲Complete revision of the Jinju City Entrepreneurship Education Center Operation Ordinance ▲Consent for the construction of a permanent shared facility for a hydrogen charging station for commercial vehicles ▲Ordinance on the designation of essential tasks in Jinju City and protection and support for workers, among others.

Chairman Yang Hae-young defined this extraordinary session as “an important session where all council members entrusted with heavy responsibilities at the crossroads toward a true era of local decentralization intensively grasp city administration tasks,” and urged council members to “carefully review the reports to ensure substantial improvement in citizens’ welfare and regional development.”

The city council is composed of 14 first-term members out of a total of 22, who have devoted great enthusiasm to thorough prior review and study of major issues and city administration directions.

An official from the council secretariat stated, “It is understood that first-term council members meticulously examined city administration materials day and night to reflect their opinions in improving city governance as representatives of the citizens,” raising expectations for diligent future legislative activities.
