Time Travel to the Modern Era: '2022 Mokpo Cultural Heritage So(小) Night Tour'

[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] A time travel to the modern era unfolds on the summer nights of Mokpo, the "City Walking Through Time."

According to Mokpo City on the 22nd, the 2022 Mokpo Cultural Heritage Small Night Tour, promoted as a Cultural Heritage Administration cultural heritage utilization project for five consecutive years, will be held from July 29 to 30 in the modern historical and cultural space area.

Unlike last year, which was mainly conducted non-face-to-face due to COVID-19, this year the event will be held mainly offline as outdoor activities increase.

Also, although it was only held in the fall, from this year the Small Night Tour is prepared to coincide with the summer vacation season, focusing on providing citizens and tourists with various performances, exhibitions, and experiences so they can enjoy a cool summer night.

The Small Night Tour, which will become a summer night street you want to walk, will operate workshops such as flea markets (1897 Dokkaebi Market), pop-up cards, and pottery making, as well as nostalgic traditional games throughout the modern historical space, offering fun for children and nostalgia for adults.

In addition, at Gyeongdong Cathedral and the outdoor stage, there will be modern jazz concerts, vocal performances such as "Serenade of the Summer Night," string quartets, performances by young musicians, and a "Cultural Heritage Moonlight Theater" screening films set in Mokpo.

Furthermore, the Modern History Hall 2 wall will be used for a "Coloring Art Experience," where participants add color to cultural heritage sketches, and the "Our Neighborhood Art Gallery" will exhibit works by resident artists of the modern historical street.

A city official said, "In the post-COVID era, we have prepared programs that citizens and tourists can enjoy together on summer nights," adding, "We hope it will be a time to regain the everyday life that was forgotten while enjoying various programs."

Meanwhile, the Night Tour, sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration and Jeollanam-do and hosted and organized by Mokpo City, is a Cultural Heritage Administration public project that allows friendly access to cultural heritage through nighttime viewing, performances, exhibitions, and experience programs in the city center. The Large Night Tour will be held from September 23 to 25.
