[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk, received the Excellence Award in the Job Disclosure System category at the ‘2022 National Local Government Job Awards’ held on the 21st.
The ‘National Local Government Job Awards’ has been established as the premier nationwide event in the job sector since 2010, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to evaluate and award local governments’ regional job policies and outstanding projects.
This evaluation was conducted based on the 2021 regional job disclosure system implementation report, going through the first stage of city/province evaluation followed by the second stage of central evaluation.
Since the launch of the 7th local government administration, Cheongsong-gun has promoted the job slogan “A Livable Cheongsong Economy, Creating a Regional Economy Tangible to Residents” and focused on four key areas: ▲job creation for employment-vulnerable groups ▲Cheongsong-type job creation tailored to regional characteristics ▲job creation in social economy enterprises ▲youth job creation. As a result of these concentrated job projects, the county was highly recognized and awarded the Excellence Award.
The main achievements include activating the operation of the Agricultural Job Support Center by constructing dormitories utilizing Cheongsong-gun’s idle assets, benefiting 604 farming households across 8 towns and townships, with a total of 3,695 people engaged in agricultural work.
Next, amid the regional economic downturn caused by COVID-19, the county proactively allocated the entire budget for customized disaster relief funds for small business owners from county funds, supporting a total of 2,070 businesses, contributing to employment retention and regional economic revitalization.
Cheongsong’s customized senior job projects, consisting of three types?public activity type, market type, and social service type?created 3,187 jobs. In particular, the social service type project achieved annual sales of 300 million KRW, generating income and expanding opportunities for social activity re-engagement among the elderly population, earning positive evaluations.
Through this award, the county secured 70 million KRW in prize money entirely from national funds as an incentive, which will be used as the budget for next year’s job projects.
Yoon Kyung-hee, Mayor of Cheongsong-gun, said, “I am very pleased that our efforts to revitalize the regional economy by promoting various job projects despite the employment crisis caused by COVID-19 have been recognized,” and added, “We will continue to discover and implement projects suited to local conditions to increase quality jobs.”
