[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A health protection system for workers of Korea's leading mobility platform companies, such as Kakao Taxi call service and designated driver brokerage, will be established.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and Kakao Mobility signed a "Business Agreement for Establishing a Health Protection System for Platform Workers" on the 22nd at Kakao Mobility headquarters in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province.
Currently, Kakao Mobility has 717 employees, and there are about 150,000 registered designated driver workers.
The agency will support health checkup costs focused on cerebrovascular and cardiovascular health, provide follow-up care for those with abnormal health checkup results, implement protective measures for customer service workers, and offer support to prevent job-related stress.
Kakao Mobility plans to introduce nighttime health services at 26 mobile worker rest areas nationwide, operating health checkups, counseling, and safety and health education.
This agreement will establish a preemptive protection system for platform workers and carry out projects to raise awareness of health management.
Ahn Jong-joo, Director of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, said, "We will continue our efforts to protect the health of platform workers working in safety and health blind spots," and added, "I hope this business agreement will help establish a healthy workplace culture."
