Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts (President Choi Yong-hyuk) held the Tintin Audition using the metaverse platform in collaboration with SKT. In the first preliminary round held on the 15th, five teams who passed the preliminary screening competed fiercely, and Son Yoo-jin (19), who passionately sang singer BIBI’s ‘Fly With Me,’ defeated strong competitors to advance to the semifinals.

The judges for the Tintin Audition held on the metaverse platform Ifland included Oh Han-seung and Heo Jin-ho, professors of the Practical Music Department at Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts, Kwon Jun-won, a professor of Entertainment Management and popular music performance expert, and talented musician The Ray.

All participants unanimously said, “The audition held in the metaverse was unfamiliar, so it was difficult to adapt at first, but once we participated, it was an exciting experience.” In particular, they expressed their impressions, saying, “We were surprised by the high-quality sound service provided beyond expectations in the virtual space of Ifland, and it was very impressive that avatars represented not only the performers, judges, and MC but also the cameramen filming the competition.”

The audience, too, entered Ifland with curiosity and interest about the metaverse audition they were experiencing for the first time, but as the competition began, they were fully immersed and enjoyed watching without a moment of boredom throughout the 100 minutes of the audition. Professor Heo Jin-ho, who was in charge of judging, said, “I was amazed that entertainment content can be effectively shared beyond the barriers of time and space, and Ifland’s high-definition video and high-quality sound, which differentiate it from other metaverse platforms, resembled an actual audition site.”

Professor Kwon Jun-won, who planned the Tintin Audition overall, said, “As the first performance using the metaverse, the Tintin Audition started with half expectations and half concerns, and I am relieved that the first step was well taken,” adding, “Throughout the 15 preliminary rounds to be held continuously, as well as the semifinals and finals, the Tintin Audition will continue to evolve in the new ecosystem called the metaverse.”

President Choi Yong-hyuk expressed his confident ambition, saying, “We plan various adventurous attempts through continuous collaboration with SKT’s metaverse Ifland, and especially by August, we will establish a metaverse campus called Dimaverse within Ifland to conduct various educational programs from the second semester onward. Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts will become a leading university in building an educational system utilizing the metaverse platform.”
