[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] The nonprofit organization Sangsaengnamu and Muan-gun Guro Village School have taken the initiative to bridge the digital divide among the elderly in the local community who are excluded from digital devices.
On the 21st, an entrance ceremony for the "Bravo Senior, Digital Village Happiness School" was held at the village school education center with elderly residents of Guro-ri, Cheonggye-myeon, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, and the digital school is scheduled to operate until September.
The Digital Village School is an educational project established to address the problem of the digitally marginalized groups that emerged as digital technology deeply penetrated daily life due to COVID-19.
The Digital Village School education consists of a total of seven sessions, offering various programs such as voice phishing prevention using the Citizen Conan app, photo editing and health management using smartphones, online communication, and smart use of YouTube. To resolve inconveniences caused by non-face-to-face systems used in everyday life, practical training on kiosk usage, unmanned cafes, and unmanned photo studios will be conducted, actively providing education on the use of unmanned systems closely related to daily life.
Meanwhile, the Digital Competency Enhancement Education Project is organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT, NIA Korea Intelligent Information Society Agency, and Jeollanam-do, with education conducted by TMD Co., Ltd. and the nonprofit Sangsaengnamu. This project offers free customized digital competency enhancement education for all citizens, including digitally vulnerable groups.
