Gangjin-gun has established itself as a leading local government in regional job creation by receiving the Grand Prize for four consecutive years from 2018 to 2021, the first among county-level local governments nationwide.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jeong-sik, who presented the awards in person, with a total of about 300 people including 73 heads of the awarded local governments.

In Jeonnam Province, Gwangyang City and Muan-gun won the Grand Prize in the job disclosure category, while Gangjin-gun and three other cities and counties received the Excellence Award.

This year, the county is investing a budget of 58.6 billion won in various job projects, including public sector job creation, job seeker employment support, and customized vocational skill development training.

They operate the ‘Visiting Job Counseling Center,’ a one-stop job support service that provides one-on-one customized employment counseling and job information, and support retention incentives for young people employed at companies in the Gangjin Industrial Complex and Chilryang-Maryang Agricultural and Industrial Complex, where youth employment is active.

Going forward, they plan to implement public work job projects, support for jobs for the disabled, and support for rural return and settlement to promote stable livelihood support and economic independence for vulnerable employment groups and revitalize the local economy.

Meanwhile, Gangjin County Governor Kang Jin-won is striving to realize the ‘5·5·5·5’ strategy, the core goal of the new Gangjin era, as the first step toward the ‘Gangjin Miracle,’ making Gangjin a land of new opportunities with a concrete vision and strategy for the 8th elected term: ▲ attracting 5 million tourists annually ▲ creating 5,000 new jobs ▲ achieving an annual household income of 50 million won ▲ reaching a population of 50,000 in Gangjin.
