Mayor Jo Gyu-il is performing the traditional rite at Jinju Hyanggyo Daeseongjeon.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 21st, Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju, Gyeongnam, performed the Goyu-rye ceremony at the Daeseongjeon of Jinju Hyanggyo.

On this day, the officiant was Mayor Jo, and the master of ceremonies was the senior officer of Jinju Hyanggyo, solemnly conducting the Munmyo Goyu-rye.

After completing the Goyu-rye, Mayor Jo shared discussions on the development of Jinju and Hyanggyo during a meeting with the Jeongyo officials of Jinju Hyanggyo.

At this meeting, Mayor Jo said, “I will make establishing a solid self-sustaining power the top priority of city administration and devote all efforts to promoting ‘Prosperous Jinju Season 2’ to become a premium city where people want to visit, stay, and live,” adding, “I ask for the kind cooperation of the respected elders of Hyanggyo.”

Meanwhile, Goyu-rye is a ritual to formally inform the sages of important matters such as inauguration or graduation.
