[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 21st that it is recruiting students for the 'Hwasun Local Food Specialized Education' until the 3rd of next month.
The recruitment includes six courses: Korean Dessert Art Class, Hwasun Fermented Sauce Class, Baking Class, Herb Cooking Class, Kimchi Fermentation Class, and Home-brewed Alcohol Making Class.
The education will start sequentially from the 4th of next month, with four sessions per course, concluding with an exhibition of the dishes made by the participants (scheduled for October).
The education fee is free, but material costs are self-paid.
The courses cover topics such as beautiful Korean desserts made with natural ingredients, homemade fermented sauces made by fermenting various vegetables, home baking using local foods, cooking and beverages using fragrant herbs, various kimchi types using Hwasun agricultural products, and chrysanthemum wine brewing to experience the scent of autumn.
Applicants must be residents of Hwasun-gun, and applications can be made by phone to the Life Resources Team at the Hwasun-gun Agricultural Technology Center starting from the 22nd.
A representative from the Hwasun-gun Agricultural Technology Center said, "Through this education, we hope that residents will develop affection for local agricultural products and that local food culture will spread," adding, "We will continue to focus on education to promote the consumption of seasonal agricultural products."
