[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] SK Hynix announced on the 20th that it has selected DIIT as the 6th generation technology innovation company and held a signing ceremony.
The signing ceremony held the day before at SK Hynix's Icheon Campus was attended by Kwak Nojeong, CEO of SK Hynix, Park Jongcheol, CEO of DIIT, and representatives of partner companies from the 4th and 5th generation technology innovation companies.
DIIT is an innovative materials, parts, and equipment company with the capability to develop core equipment technology applicable to new processes. Over the next two years, it will jointly conduct technology development with SK Hynix. It will also receive support such as interest-free technology development loans and management consulting from SK Hynix. For DIIT, which has mainly operated its business focusing on display equipment, this selection provides an opportunity to pioneer a new path in the semiconductor field.
Now in its sixth year, the technology innovation company program is one of SK Hynix's representative win-win growth programs. It discovers small and medium-sized enterprises with technological capabilities but lacking growth infrastructure and provides benefits related to technology and management. SK Hynix has greatly contributed to leading the growth of the domestic semiconductor industry, creating social value of 67.3 billion KRW last year alone through technology innovation companies.
Kwak Nojeong, President of SK Hynix, said, "Although uncertainties surrounding the semiconductor industry, such as the prolonged pandemic, remain, we will not spare support for the growth and development of domestic partners," adding, "If SK Hynix and domestic partners cooperate with a strong will for technology development, we expect to create a virtuous cycle structure capable of sustainable performance creation."
