Foreign Minister Park Jin to Attend US-Hosted 'Supply Chain Ministerial Meeting' on the 20th

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] Foreign Minister Park Jin will attend the '2022 Supply Chain Ministerial Meeting' hosted by the United States via video conference on the 20th.

Choi Young-sam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at the regular briefing on the 19th, "Minister Park plans to introduce our government's policies for mid- to long-term supply chain strengthening, including responses to bottlenecks in the supply of key materials and diversification of supply sources for core items."

Currently visiting Japan, Minister Park is scheduled to return home on the afternoon of the 20th after completing his visit and immediately attend the meeting.

The meeting is jointly hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. Approximately 20 countries, including South Korea, are expected to participate.

The Biden administration emphasizes cooperation with allies and partner countries to resolve supply chain bottlenecks and build resilient supply chains.

Janet Yellen, U.S. Treasury Secretary, who is visiting South Korea, visited LG Science Park in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the same day and criticized China, stating, "We must prevent dominant control by specific forces or countries in the supply chain."
