[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lee Gyehwa] Shin Saimdang (real name Joo Eon-gyu), a famous economic YouTuber with 1.8 million subscribers, announced that he has transferred ownership of his channel.
On the 19th, Shin Saimdang posted on his Instagram, "As of today, all rights to the Shin Saimdang channel have been transferred to the person who took over the channel," adding, "I sincerely thank them for allowing me to appear until the 18th."
Shin Saimdang said, "Leaving the Shin Saimdang channel, which was everything to me and like my identity, I will now live diligently as an ordinary person rather than a famous YouTuber," and added, "I will greet you occasionally through the 'JooPD (Joo Eon-gyu's Money-Making Thoughts)' channel, Instagram, and Class101." He concluded with, "I believe I have experienced a rare fortune in life. I will always live with gratitude."

Shin Saimdang, a former PD at Korea Economic TV, quit his five-year career as a broadcasting PD and ran a small business near Hongdae before jumping into YouTube. Initially, he started by sharing his personal experiences on how to make money, then expanded to content related to economics, finance, and investment.
The Shin Saimdang YouTube channel surpassed 1 million subscribers in just two years. As of the 19th, it has 1.83 million subscribers. His earnings also surged. While earning 1.68 million KRW per month as a PD, he succeeded as a YouTuber, earning 70 to 80 million KRW per month from views alone. He once revealed on a radio program that he earns about 300 million KRW per month. However, Shin Saimdang decided to leave YouTube after four years.
The Shin Saimdang channel was reportedly acquired by a YouTuber close to Shin Saimdang. The sale price was not disclosed. A securities industry insider familiar with Shin Saimdang said, "He once mentioned that managing subscribers caused him a lot of stress and led to insomnia."
