[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City is preparing emergency measures to respond to the resurgence of COVID-19 during the summer vacation season.

On the 18th at 2:30 PM, Ulsan City plans to hold an emergency quarantine countermeasure meeting chaired by Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom at the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Situation Room on the 4th floor of the City Hall Annex 2.

This emergency quarantine countermeasure meeting will include quarantine officials from Ulsan City, district and county offices, a panel of quarantine experts, and the Infectious Disease Management Support Group. The meeting will cover the establishment of response strategies and inspection of the medical quarantine system in preparation for the COVID-19 resurgence.

The meeting will discuss reports on COVID-19 occurrence trends and the quarantine experts' panel's plans for ▲response measures to the resurgence ▲quarantine management measures for the summer vacation season ▲establishment of autonomous COVID-19 quarantine measures, as well as community transmission blocking strategies and contingency plans in case of a surge in confirmed cases.

Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom of Ulsan City said, “We must thoroughly review the COVID-19 resurgence response strategies to minimize damage caused by COVID-19,” and added, “As the summer holiday season approaches, we ask for strengthened promotion activities for the 4th COVID-19 vaccination and the maintenance of a thorough emergency quarantine system.”

The trend of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Ulsan City is similar to the nationwide trend, showing a doubling phenomenon (the number of confirmed cases doubling) for two consecutive weeks.

Ulsan City quarantine officials cite the main causes of the increase as the spread of the BA.5 variant, which has a high likelihood of immune evasion, decreased natural immunity, and increased mobility during the summer season.
