11 Awards Including Group Category 'Excellence Award' and Individual Category 'Silver Award'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongsangnam-do showcased the excellence of Jinju crafts by winning 11 awards, including the Group Division Excellence Award and the Individual Division Silver Award, at the "52nd Gyeongsangnam-do Crafts Exhibition" hosted by Gyeongsangnam-do and organized by the Gyeongsangnam-do Craft Cooperative.
This year, 292 pieces were submitted from 18 cities and counties to the Gyeongsangnam-do Crafts Exhibition, with 92 pieces receiving awards. The winning works will be exhibited for three days from the 15th to the 17th at the 3rd Exhibition Hall of the Changwon Convention Center.
Jinju City's individual award-winning works include "Time of Ink" by artist Jo Hyun-young, who received the Silver Award; "Feast of Overlapping and Inheritance" by artist Bae Kyung-hwa, who received the Bronze Award; and "Scenery in a Dream" by artist Lee Young-sook.
Six works that received special selection or higher among the award-winning pieces will also qualify to be exhibited at the "Korea Crafts Exhibition" held from November 24 to 27.
A city official stated, "We hope to achieve good results at the Korea Crafts Exhibition in the future as well, further elevating the status of Jinju as a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art."
Meanwhile, the city is promoting various policies to foster the craft cultural industry, including operating the Jinju Woodcraft Training Center, establishing the Jinju Craft Creation Support Center, and supporting the entry of cultural products into the national procurement market.
