Regular Visit to Strawberry Farm by New Farmer

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it will provide cultivation technology consulting to new farmers, including those challenging strawberry cultivation.

This consulting was prepared to help new strawberry farmers who are struggling due to a lack of strawberry cultivation technology to successfully settle in rural areas.

The strawberry cultivation technology consulting offers differentiated agricultural technology services from other local governments, providing consulting for difficulties that arise frequently as well as regular on-site consultations for interested farms.

According to the county, last year, 796 households and 1,130 people moved to Sancheong-gun as returnees to farming and rural areas.

Among them, new farmers receive various preliminary education before starting agricultural businesses and learn cultivation techniques through nearby leading farms, SNS, and the internet even during cultivation.

However, there are often cases of damage caused by inaccurate information or failure to apply cultivation techniques in the field.

The County Agricultural Technology Center has prepared consulting for strawberry cultivation farmers to prevent such cases in advance by providing nutrient solution prescriptions, guidance on seasonal farm work, environmental management methods, and pest and disease control.

In particular, new farmers who wish to receive consulting are provided with weekly regular farm visits covering the entire process from strawberry seedling raising to harvest.

A representative of the County Agricultural Technology Center said, “Sancheong is one of the nationally renowned major strawberry production areas. Especially, Sancheong strawberries have high brand value and profitability, making them highly preferred by livelihood-type returnee farmers. We will continue to strive to support new farmers’ strawberry cultivation technology consulting and help them settle stably in rural areas.”
