[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kyungho Ahn] Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, has operated a specialty product promotion booth at the ‘60th Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival’ held in Pohang City until the 17th to promote Ulleung region’s specialty products.
The specialty product promotion booth is a space where Gyeongbuk’s cities and counties, producer organizations, and distribution and processed food companies participate to promote representative specialty products and allow visitors to experience various foods. The event is designed to build trust between producers and consumers through the provincial sports festival and help consumers purchase products at affordable prices.
Ulleung-gun operates the promotion booth by exhibiting and offering tastings of agricultural specialty products such as myeongijeolim, bujikkaengi, miyeokchwi, samnamul, chamgobi, bujigaengina mulbap, and hobakyeot, and also runs a booth selling squid, which has become scarce due to low catch volumes, and naturally dried seaweed grown in a clean area at discounted prices.
In addition, Ulleung-gun plans to focus on promoting ‘Ulleung Mall,’ an e-commerce shopping mall, so that consumers can purchase specialty products through various methods.
Nam Han-kwon, the mayor of Ulleung-gun, said, “We will promote Ulleung specialty products to visitors and expand sales channels to lead to increased income for local farmers and fishermen.”
