[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Gijang-gun is distributing KF94 masks to vulnerable groups as signs of a COVID-19 resurgence appear during the summer vacation season.
Gijang-gun has taken preemptive measures following a doubling phenomenon where the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has more than doubled compared to last week, and it is expected that daily confirmed cases will exceed 100,000 throughout August.
To prepare for the spread of COVID-19, Gijang-gun will provide 50 masks per person, totaling approximately 980,000 masks, to vulnerable groups including seniors aged 65 and older, daycare and kindergarten children, and lower-grade elementary school students.
The masks to be distributed will be supplied from stockpiles without additional purchases to save budget, and will be distributed to vulnerable groups under the supervision of the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers.
Jeong Jong-bok, the head of Gijang-gun, said, “To prevent the spread of COVID-19, please wear masks indoors without fail and maintain personal hygiene. We ask for your active participation in strictly following daily quarantine rules to protect the safety of your family and neighbors.”
