Held at Muan Sports Park Indoor Gymnasium from the 18th to the 26th
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the 2022 Korean Air Cup National University Volleyball Muan Tournament will be held at the Muan Sports Park Indoor Gymnasium from the 18th to the 26th.
Hosted by the Korea University Volleyball Federation and sponsored by Muan-gun, this tournament will feature about 500 players from 20 teams, including 15 men's university teams and 5 women's university teams from across the country, competing to showcase their skills.
The tournament will be divided into three groups: Men's University Division A Group, B Group, and Women's Division.
The Men's University Division A Group consists of 11 teams: Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, Kyung Hee University, Kyonggi University, Myongji University, Gyeongsang National University, Inha University, Chosun University, Joongbu University, Chungnam National University, and Hongik University.
The Men's University Division B Group is composed of 4 teams: Gumi University, Mokpo National University, Woosuk University, and Honam University. The Women's Division includes 5 teams: Kyungil University, Dankook University, Mokpo Science University, Woosuk University, and Honam University.
The semifinals will be held on the 25th, and the finals on the 26th. Both the semifinals and finals will be broadcast on JTBC.
Prior to the tournament, the county plans to thoroughly prepare by inspecting the venue facilities, implementing traffic measures, deploying cleaning personnel, and providing medical support to ensure the event proceeds smoothly. They also plan to actively conduct promotional activities to create an atmosphere of community participation among all residents.
County Governor Kim San said, "With the previously restricted spectator admission now allowed, we hope the energy of young and vibrant university volleyball will lead to regional revitalization." He added, "We will continue to actively attract sports tournaments to promote the local economy and provide diverse entertainment for residents."
Meanwhile, Muan-gun hosted its first nationwide volleyball tournament in 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators were unable to watch the games in person, but this year, with full spectator admission allowed, university volleyball that was previously accessible only through media can now be enjoyed live.
