[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 13th that Super Makers Co., Ltd., the first investment company of Bucheon Venture Fund No.1, has opened the second Central Kitchen factory (Bucheondong) equipped with the largest production capacity in Korea, after growing its annual sales by 200% since its founding in 2017.
Super Makers is a startup headquartered in Bucheon that launched the home-style side dish brand 'Super Kitchen' and currently operates 75 directly managed stores mainly in the metropolitan area. It also runs a dawn delivery service through its online mall.
Super Kitchen has raised hygiene and quality standards by changing from the traditional store-based production of side dishes to a centralized production (Central Kitchen) system. It is leading innovation in the HMR (Home Meal Replacement) market through direct offline store management, logistics management via stores, and demand forecasting using IT.
The opening of the second Central Kitchen holds special significance as a success case of a Bucheon Venture Fund No.1 investment company. The city expects accelerated growth through the establishment of the largest production facility in Korea for refrigerated HMR product manufacturing and product diversification.
At the opening ceremony on the 11th, Bucheon Mayor Jo Yong-ik said, "We will spare no support for startups with technology and ideas," adding, "Dreaming of the birth of Bucheon’s first unicorn company, we will work harder to make Bucheon a city favorable for businesses."
Meanwhile, Bucheon City is promoting the establishment of Bucheon Venture Fund No.2, aiming to complete its formation by September and actively nurture promising local companies through discovery and investment.
