Korea Deep Sleep Project 'Sleep Tech 2022' Held at COEX from 15th to 17th

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The 3rd International Sleep Health Industry Expo, SleepTech2022, will be held for three days from the 15th to the 17th at COEX Hall D (3rd floor) in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

SleepTech2022 was organized to raise awareness of the importance of sleep health, to recognize sleep disorders as a medical condition, and to contribute to the rapidly growing sleep industry. This expo is hosted by MediC&C, which operates Korea's largest doctor portal Medigate, and the Korea Sleep Technology Association, and is organized by Medigate News.

The domestic sleep industry has shown a steep growth, expanding sixfold in seven years from 500 billion KRW in 2012 to over 3 trillion KRW in 2019. At the same time, the number of patients suffering from sleep disorders is also increasing. According to the National Health Insurance Service, the number of patients treated for sleep disorders rose from 495,506 in 2016 to 671,307 in 2020.

This expo is expected to provide comprehensive solutions for those concerned about sleep. Events include one-on-one sleep health consultations, special public lectures on sleep health, the SleepTech talk concert, a sleep idea contest, consultations on polysomnography, events with Brainer J, a sleep YouTuber with 570,000 subscribers, and shopping live broadcasts for participating companies' booths.

In particular, the 'Public Free Polysomnography Consultation Project' in collaboration with the Korean Otolaryngology Society will also be held. Although polysomnography has become more accessible due to insurance coverage, many people still hesitate to visit hospitals for consultations. Therefore, during the SleepTech2022 exhibition, free expert consultations on polysomnography will be offered to help overcome sleep disorders.

Additionally, a SleepTech talk concert featuring companies from the Korea Sleep Technology Association (KSTA) will be held. The Sleep Technology Association, established last year as an official organization, believes that IT technology will lead the future of the sleep industry beyond traditional beds and pillows, and aims to promote active exchanges among SleepTech companies. The talk concert will take place on the 15th from 4:10 PM to 5:30 PM at Hall D Conference Hall, with participation from SleepTech companies such as OurLab, Loople, Mongata, Resol, A-Sleep, Nix, and Metel.

A MediC&C official stated, "Sleep is very important in life, as we spend one-third of our lives sleeping. Now, it is especially emphasized not just to sleep, but to have a good quality sleep." He added, "Based on the exhibition, MediC&C will work together with the industry and medical community until all citizens achieve good sleep."
