[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) CCTV Integrated Control Center is playing a crucial role as a safety net for Dobong residents through 24-hour seamless real-time monitoring, preventing crimes, swiftly apprehending criminals, finding missing persons, and preventing accidents involving intoxicated individuals.

The Dobong-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center opened in January 2013 with an area of 270㎡ and currently operates about 1,900 CCTVs based on a Geographic Information System (GIS).

In the first half of this year, the Dobong-gu Control Center conducted 18,760 real-time monitoring activities ranging from minor offenses to violent crimes, and with the introduction of the Smart City Integrated Platform, it promptly provided 1,822 video information cases to investigative agencies such as the police.

For example, in March this year, a missing elderly person with dementia was found through video patrol, and in June, a thief at the Dobongsan Station bicycle storage was captured, with the movement route quickly relayed to the police, leading to the arrest of the criminal.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “Even while residents are sleeping, the Dobong-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center is tirelessly protecting the safety of the citizens day and night. We will continue to promote data-driven scientific administration through the activities of the CCTV Integrated Control Center to protect the safety and property rights of our residents.”

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is recruiting trainees for the ‘Cybersecurity Specialist Training Course,’ which will lead the next-generation security industry, until the 21st of this month.

Recognizing the need to foster the cybersecurity industry and nurture related talent as the digital era accelerates, the district has prepared an educational program for professional talent development through an agreement with the Korea Information Security Industry Association (Chairman Lee Dong-beom).

This training is designed with a practical, hands-on curriculum reflecting corporate demand, based on prior agreements with 30 cybersecurity companies including SK Shieldus, LG CNS, and Igloo Corporation, and will be conducted over 20 sessions (160 hours) in total.

The detailed curriculum includes ▲System Security ▲System Vulnerability Diagnosis and Analysis Practice ▲System Hacking Practice ▲Network Security ▲Penetration Testing ▲Malware Analysis and Practice ▲Incident Response ▲Information Security Consulting, among others. To enhance field adaptability, company visits and consultations with practitioners will also be conducted.

The district also plans to actively support employment for graduates through hosting specialized job fairs for the information security industry, providing employment mentoring, and linking with corporate internship programs. Last year, 10 out of 20 trainees successfully found employment.

This training will be held throughout August at the Korea Information Security Education Center of the Korea Information Security Industry Association located in Garak-dong, Songpa-gu, and the cost is entirely free.

Anyone aged 20 to 34 who is unemployed and wishes to work in the information security field can apply. Applicants should complete the application form on the Korea Information Security Industry Association website and submit it via email by the 21st.

The district, together with the association, will conduct interviews on July 27 to select 15 final trainees.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Songpa-gu has great growth potential in the cybersecurity field due to the Munjeong Business Valley, a hub for new growth industries, and the establishment of Korea’s only ICT security cluster. In the 8th term of the civilian administration, Songpa-gu will build a field-customized professional workforce training system to support the diverse futures of youth and strengthen corporate competitiveness.”
