[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The agricultural business group jointly established by two local governments in Gyeongbuk, Yeongyang-gun and Uljin-gun, generously donated scholarships for local students.
This scholarship fund comes from the ‘Native Premium Branding Project Group,’ which, together with agricultural members cultivating Cheongung, sold byproducts remaining after processing Cheongung at its subsidiary Yeongyang Cheongung Herb Processing Plant last year.
The total amount of 4,978,000 KRW was delivered as scholarships to the Yeongyang-gun Talent Development Scholarship Foundation on the 12th.
The Native Premium Branding Project Group originated as a regional strategic food industry promotion project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and handles regionally specialized agricultural products. It is a business group jointly established by Yeongyang-gun and Uljin-gun to help increase the income of producing farms.
Utilizing native resources such as Cheongung, Danggui, and Doraji, it contributes to generating farm income through washing, drying, processing, and distribution.
Chairman Kwon Jeongrak said, “Although there have been many difficulties for farms due to COVID-19, the members willingly agreed to donate the scholarship fund.”
CEO Kim Ilgu conveyed the purpose, saying, “As a token of gratitude for the interest and affection shown by Yeongyang-gun Mayor O Dochang and the staff toward herb cultivation farms, we decided to provide a small support to help students realize their dreams and hopes.”
Yeongyang-gun Mayor O Dochang said, “I feel warmed by the precious helping hand extended for the development of local education even in difficult times,” and added, “We will provide various supports so that Yeongyang-gun students can receive better education.”
