Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyun Orders Response Measures for "Okjeong Logistics Warehouse Permit Revocation" Kang Su-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City [Yangju City]

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Mayor Kang Soo-hyun of Yangju City has ordered the enforcement of the ex officio cancellation of the Okjeong New Town logistics warehouse permit and the preparation of countermeasures.

According to Yangju City on the 11th, Mayor Kang stated at the first expanded executive meeting of the 8th elected term held on the 6th, "The permit for the logistics warehouse will be canceled ex officio as emphasized during the election period."

He added, "Please devise a legal and professional response plan to address legal issues such as lawsuits that may arise from the permit cancellation."

He also emphasized, "A task force (TF) consisting of legal experts and local residents will be formed to prepare comprehensive measures for effective operation."

The Okjeong logistics warehouse, planned to be built in Goam-dong near Okjeong New Town, received building permission last September for a total area of 190,000㎡, with three basement floors and five above-ground floors.

Residents of Okjeong New Town and Deokjeong Housing District within a 2 km radius of the logistics center site have continuously raised concerns about obstruction of views, noise and vibration, and chronic traffic congestion.

Mayor Kang said, "The ex officio cancellation of the Okjeong logistics warehouse is a key pledge of the 8th elected term and a promise to the citizens, so we will make every effort to implement it as soon as possible."
