[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] On the afternoon of the 11th, fires broke out in home appliances in various apartments across Seoul, causing residents to evacuate in a commotion.
According to the local fire stations, at around 4:40 PM that day, a fire started in a kimchi refrigerator inside an apartment unit in Seongsan-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, burning part of the appliance and was extinguished within 15 minutes. During this process, 32 residents, startled by the fire, evacuated urgently.
At around 6:24 PM, a fire broke out in an air conditioner outdoor unit at a large apartment complex in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, causing 60 residents to evacuate. The fire was completely extinguished at around 6:48 PM, 24 minutes later.
Fortunately, there were no casualties from the two fires.
The fire authorities plan to investigate the exact causes of the fires and the extent of the damage.
