"Pohang's Night Shines Again," 'Yeongilman Chingu Night Market' Opens Full of Food and Attractions

Operating every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6 PM to 11 PM from July to December

The Yeongilman Chingu Night Market, full of food and attractions, lights up Pohang's night once again.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Yeongilman Chingu Night Market in Pohang City, Gyeongbuk, opened on the 8th and began full-scale operations.

At the newly reopened Yeongilman Chingu Night Market, about 40 teams operate food stalls and flea market booths along a 300m section of Pohang Jungang Shopping Street's Silgaecheon Street (Yukgeori to Bukpohang Post Office). Visitors were captivated by a rich variety of offerings, including steak, Pohang Jangmi bread, skewers, as well as calligraphy, balloon art, craft sales, and experiential events.

The opening ceremony was held on the 8th with the attendance of Mayor Kangdeok Lee, National Assembly member Jeongjae Kim, Gyeongbuk Provincial Council member Chilgu Lee, Pohang City Council Chairman Ingyu Baek, and other city and provincial council members. With families flocking to the market upon opening, it is expected to play a significant role in revitalizing the local economy.

Pohang City and the Jungang Market Merchants Association will operate the night market every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6 PM to 11 PM, from July to December.

The opening ceremony featured tenor Changhun Lee, soprano Yeo-jin Park, popular singers ODEE, Chaeseoyun, Chaehangil, and Choi Jihyun, further elevating the night market's atmosphere.

A city official stated, “We will thoroughly support the Yeongilman Chingu Night Market in various ways so that it can serve not only to revitalize the local economy but also as a catalyst to breathe new life into the stagnant old downtown commercial district.”
