Conflicting Opinions Among IT Tipsters Over Z Fold4 Rear Camera
Galaxy Watch5 3D Rendering Revealed
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Samsung Electronics' August Unpacked (new product launch) event, considered one of the biggest events in the smartphone industry in the second half of this year, is just a month away. IT tipsters (leakers) are also showcasing their information power by revealing rendering (composite) images of the Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, and Galaxy Watch5.
According to a compilation of foreign media reports on the 10th, the Z Fold4 is said to have adjusted the screen ratio, reduced weight, and enhanced camera performance. It is equipped with a triple camera system including a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Like the previous model, the internal foldable display may have an under-display camera, and the application processor (AP), the "brain" of the smartphone, is expected to include Qualcomm's latest premium chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.
Opinions among IT tipsters differ regarding the rear camera design. TechTalkTV stated on Twitter that the camera module design of the Z Fold4 would be similar to its predecessor. On the other hand, another IT tipster, Onyx, speculated that the rear camera design would not have a protruding separate module but rather lenses directly placed on the device body.
According to images released by TechTalkTV on Twitter, the Z Flip4 is expected to have an improved hinge structure and significantly reduced creases on the folding part of the display. It features the same 6.7-inch Full HD+ (1080×2640 pixels) Super AMOLED display as its predecessor. The screen refresh rate is 120Hz. The camera setup is expected to include a 12-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera on the rear, and a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the front. There are also rumors of a rear triple camera setup. The battery capacity is likely to increase. The charger will be upgraded from 15 watts (W) to 25W. Like the Z Fold4, it is expected to be equipped with Qualcomm's latest premium chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
The Galaxy Watch5 is also attracting attention. Indian IT media 91mobiles recently cited famous IT tipster Evan Blass to reveal 3D rendering images of two models in the Galaxy Watch5 series. The high-end 'Galaxy Watch5 Pro' model's codename is 'Project X.' It comes in black and gray titanium colors. The 'Galaxy Watch5 standard' model's codename is 'Heart' and will be available in LTE and Bluetooth versions. There will be two case sizes with various color options. Both models are expected to run Wear OS 3.5 with the One UI Watch 4.5 skin applied.
The Galaxy Watch5 series is also presumed to feature fast charging. According to documents Samsung submitted to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as reported by 9to5Google, the battery charging function has been significantly improved compared to the previous Galaxy Watch4 series. The Galaxy Watch4 was criticized for its battery life being its biggest weakness. Although Samsung emphasized a battery life of over 40 hours, in reality, it was difficult to last even a day with alarm functions and others activated.
Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to hold a global Unpacked event around the 10th of next month to unveil the foldable smartphones Z Fold4 and Flip4, as well as the Galaxy Watch5 series. This event is expected to be a hybrid format combining both online and offline participation. It will be the first offline event since February 2020, approximately two years and six months ago.
