"Acts of violence must never occur under any circumstances"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Regarding the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe due to a shooting during an election campaign, Kim Jin-pyo, Speaker of the National Assembly, sent a letter of condolence to Hiroyuki Hosoda, Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives.
According to the Speaker's office on the 8th, Speaker Kim stated in the letter to Speaker Hosoda, "On behalf of the National Assembly and the people of the Republic of Korea, I extend my deepest condolences," and added, "This incident is an absolutely unacceptable atrocity, and acts of violence must never occur under any circumstances."
Regarding former Prime Minister Abe, Speaker Kim added, "As the longest-serving Japanese Prime Minister in history and having devoted himself to legislative work as a member of the National Diet for over 30 years, I pay tribute to former Prime Minister Abe's achievements."
