[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] NHK reported that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was shot during an election campaign on the 8th, has died.

According to the report, a Liberal Democratic Party executive stated that former Prime Minister Abe lost his life while undergoing treatment.

Former Prime Minister Abe was shot by a former Maritime Self-Defense Force member around 11:30 a.m. that day during a campaign rally supporting the House of Councillors election in Nara City, Nara Prefecture.

He was urgently transported to the hospital but was in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest.
