Sancheong-gun, Training Persimmon Production Experts for Returning Farmers

80 Participants to Undergo Production Technology Training from 27th to September 14th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will conduct the 2022 Jirisan Sancheong Gotgam Production Technology Training to cultivate experts in the production of Sancheong Gotgam, a representative specialty product.

This training will be held from the 27th of this month to September 14th at Deoksan Cultural Center in Sicheon-myeon, targeting about 80 participants including gotgam-producing (hopeful) farmers and returnees to farming and rural areas (hopeful).

Applications for the training can be submitted by visiting the County Office's Forest and Greenery Division or each eup/myeon office, or by email or mail, until the 20th of this month.

The training content includes astringent persimmon cultivation techniques, processing technologies for gotgam, dried persimmon slices, and semi-dried persimmons, persimmon tree growth management and gotgam hygiene management, online marketing techniques, dessert-making experiences using gotgam, and field visits to advanced farms.

Especially this year, an experiential event for developing various foods using gotgam will be added, along with time to experience and try product small packaging techniques tailored to current trends.

A county official said, “Through this training, we will strive not only to continuously strengthen the capabilities of gotgam-producing farmers but also to maintain the reputation of ‘Jirisan Sancheong Gotgam.’ We will do our best to increase the income of gotgam-producing farmers through continuous education, upgrading gotgam quality, and pioneering sales channels such as online marketing.”

Meanwhile, ‘Jirisan Sancheong Gotgam’ is recognized as the highest quality gotgam nationwide, being the first in the gotgam field to register for the Geographical Indication system and having been selected six times as a representative brand of Korea.
