[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, on the 8th called for senior party members to step forward in response to Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, receiving a severe disciplinary action of a six-month suspension of party membership from the party's Central Ethics Committee.

Through social media (SNS) on the same day, Mayor Hong said, "During the last presidential election, I mediated the two waves of Lee Jun-seok's controversies and helped to settle internal party conflicts," adding, "It is truly regrettable that not a single senior lawmaker stepped forward to mediate this internal party turmoil."

He stated, "Although there are no elections for the time being, so the party members might have been absorbed in internal power struggles, now is the time to unite and lay the foundation for the early stage of the administration. Both the party leader who focused solely on defending party power through constant allegations and the military-style discipline politics aimed at correcting manners and order regardless of public opinion are undesirable."
