[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Park Jin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is visiting Bali, Indonesia to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held a Korea-EU Foreign Ministers' Meeting with Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on the 7th (local time).

Minister Park evaluated the EU's active efforts to enhance cooperation with the Indo-Pacific region and said that the Korea-EU strategic partnership, established in 2010, should be further strengthened.

Both sides agreed to seek ways for Korea and the EU to cooperate in the Indo-Pacific region based on openness, inclusiveness, and reciprocity.

They also agreed to steadily proceed with follow-up measures from the brief summit meeting between President Yoon Suk-yeol and Charles Michel, President of the European Council, held last month on the occasion of the NATO summit.

Cooperation in global issues such as health, climate change, and digital sectors will also be accelerated.

Both ministers shared the view that unified international support is necessary in the reconstruction and recovery process so that the people of Ukraine can return to normal life as soon as possible.

In this meeting, Minister Park explained the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula and South Korea's North Korea policy, requesting the EU's continued interest and role.

Both sides agreed to maintain close communication regarding the North Korean nuclear issue to encourage North Korea to stop provocations and return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy.
