[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Amid growing trade risks with China, the Korea Display Industry Association announced on the 7th that it will publish the "China Display Issue Report" and provide it quarterly. Starting this month, the association plans to deliver the report online to its member companies on a quarterly basis.
The display industry is essentially dominated by Korea and China in the global market. Domestic companies are also actively expanding into China. However, due to COVID-19 and the US-China conflict, China's protectionism has intensified, increasing supply chain-related risks.
To assist companies in managing these risks, the association plans to improve its existing China news service and provide more in-depth information through the report.
The report will offer quarterly data on display policies from the Chinese central government and local authorities, major industry issues, and global value chain (GVC) analysis of Chinese panel and materials, components, and equipment companies. It aims to help companies understand the changing Chinese market and utilize the information for strategic planning.
It will cover in-depth analysis of production trends and research and development (R&D) investments of Chinese panel companies. Additionally, it will investigate the status and value chain of local materials, components, and equipment companies to support data for buyer discovery and competitor analysis.
Through expert columns in fields such as economy, technology, security, and market entry, the report will present trends and implications on how rapidly changing international circumstances affect Korea-China exchanges.
The report will also include analysis of export-import trends of Chinese display panels and materials, components, and equipment items, as well as quarterly shipment volumes and operating rates of major manufacturers.
In particular, the inaugural issue will examine responses to the recently raised "deglobalization" trend and the impact of China's lockdown policies through expert columns, while providing an overview of the value chain of the display industry within China.
Lee Dongwook, the association’s full-time vice chairman, said, "We hope the report will be a valuable resource to enhance the competitiveness of domestic companies in the leadership competition with China. We plan to utilize various experts and actively gather industry opinions to analyze the rapidly changing market from multiple perspectives and provide timely information according to the Chinese government’s policies."
