Jeongeup-si to Implement Comprehensive Heatwave Response Measures Until September

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 7th that it has designated the heatwave countermeasure period until September 30 and will implement a 'Comprehensive Heatwave Response Plan,' including the installation of shade shelters, operation of cooling centers, and operation of conscience parasol rental stations.

The city operates a 'Heatwave Countermeasure T/F Team' consisting of 12 members divided into three teams: Situation Management Team, Health Management Support Team, and Facility Management Team, under the supervision of the Director of the Urban Safety Bureau.

Through this, the city will establish a heatwave situation management system, maintain an emergency contact system, and promptly disseminate action items to engage in comprehensive situation management.

Additionally, five more smart shade shelters (operating when temperature is above 15℃ and wind speed is below 7m/s) will be installed at busy intersections and various locations throughout the city, bringing the total number of shade shelters to 44 (40 smart shade shelters and 4 foldable shade shelters).

Along with this, 345 indoor cooling centers equipped with air conditioning facilities, located in community centers, senior centers, financial institutions, and other places within the region, will be designated and operated to help residents spend a safe summer.

During heatwave warnings, ice will be provided at eight major bus stops in the city to prevent damage caused by the heatwave through an all-out response.

Ice water will also be supplied at three outdoor cooling centers, and heatwave response promotional items (portable fans, cool patches, cool arm sleeves, tumblers, etc.) will be produced and distributed to vulnerable groups to minimize heatwave damage.

Heatwave risk information will be quickly disseminated through disaster and emergency text messages, disaster early warning systems, and electronic display boards, and prevention guidelines will be actively promoted using various media.

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, "Please refrain from outdoor activities during midday as much as possible and thoroughly manage yourself by frequently drinking cool water," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that all citizens can spend the hot summer safely and healthily."
