[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Park Geun-oh) announced on the 8th that it has issued a "Vacation Season Outdoor Activity Safety Accident Advisory."
This measure was taken in anticipation of a continuous occurrence of various safety accidents such as traffic, drowning, and bee stings due to increased outdoor activities during the vacation season.
Over the past three years, the total number of injury patients caused by outdoor activity safety accidents was 30,132, occurring steadily every year, with the highest quarterly occurrence rate of 8,403 patients from July to September, the vacation season.
In particular, during the July to September period over the past three years, drowning accidents (34.2%), bee sting accidents (78%), snake bite accidents (60.2%), jellyfish sting accidents (75.5%), and other safety accidents caused by animals and plants (44.8%) have been concentrated, requiring special caution during outdoor activities.
Traffic accident injury patients were also highest from July to September (27%), with automobile traffic accidents accounting for the largest proportion (60%) by mode of transportation.
Safety accidents involving personal mobility devices such as bicycles (6.1%↑), motorcycles (5.8%↑), and electric carts (112%↑) have shown a continuous increasing trend.
The Fire Safety Headquarters plans to raise awareness of safety accidents by issuing the vacation season outdoor activity safety accident advisory, establishing a rapid dispatch system, building a cooperative system with related organizations, and conducting focused publicity to spread safety rules.
An official from the Fire Safety Headquarters said, "During outdoor activities in the vacation season, it is essential to familiarize yourself with prevention rules and action guidelines for each type of accident to prepare in advance for safety accidents," and added, "In case of an accident, it is necessary to promptly report to 119, provide detailed information about the patient's condition, and receive emergency treatment quickly with special caution."
