[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Emart Everyday announced on the 7th that its liquor specialty corner 'Jipsul' has become very popular, expanding to 100 stores within a year.
Jipsul is a liquor specialty corner in the style of a corporate supermarket (SSM) that sells a variety of alcoholic beverages such as wine, whiskey, imported and craft beer, and traditional liquor. Emart Everyday has steadily expanded the Jipsul corner since opening the Ochang Industrial Complex store in June last year. Since the introduction of Jipsul, Emart Everyday's average monthly liquor sales have increased by 16.5% within one year. Whiskey sales grew by 94.6%, wine by 29.3%, and traditional liquor by 12.7%.
Emart Everyday will conduct various promotions at stores nationwide until the end of this month. Discounts include 40% off when purchasing two bottles of four types of sake, Jeju Beer craft beer two types for 990 won, and 8,000 won for four cans of Heineken. Popular sparkling wines and the rising American wine Josh will be sold at up to 40% off.
Through the online reservation service 'Wine Club' available on the Emart Everyday application (app), the 'M. Chapoutier Pavillon 2012' and 'L'Hermite 2017,' both rated 100 points by famous wine critic Robert Parker, will be sold in limited quantities of five bottles each. Additionally, 'Iskai' and 'Cideral' will be offered at special prices with 100 bottles each in limited quantities.
An Emart Everyday representative said, "We believe the spread of at-home drinking culture due to COVID-19 contributed to the expansion of Jipsul," adding, "We will strive to become the nation's leading liquor specialty distribution brand by greatly expanding the range of choices and providing products tailored to consumer preferences and demands, customized by region or store, to reach more customers."
