Governor Kim Dong-yeon Meets with Han Fangming, President of China Chahaer Society... Discusses Cooperation Plans

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, has stepped up efforts to strengthen cooperation with Chinese private diplomatic organizations.

On the 6th, Governor Kim met with Han Fangming, Chairman of the Chahaer (察哈爾) Society, a private diplomatic organization visiting Korea to mark the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations, at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office to discuss cooperation plans between Gyeonggi Province and China.

The Chahaer Society is China's first think tank specializing in diplomacy and international relations. It was established in 2009 under the leadership of Han Fangming, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Chairman Han has been serving as an honorary ambassador of Gyeonggi Province since 2014. In 2017, he also donated a statue of Ahn Jung-geun to Uijeongbu City.

At the meeting, Governor Kim said, "Today, I signed an investment agreement with a semiconductor equipment company and met with foreign investors, and I am pleased to continue by discussing the cooperative relationship between Gyeonggi Province and China. I appreciate your efforts as an honorary ambassador of Gyeonggi Province in fostering cooperation with China, and I look forward to various forms of collaboration in the future."

In response, Chairman Han Fangming said, "China is also very interested in the semiconductor sector, which is one of the areas of cooperation. Since Gyeonggi Province is the center of Korean industry and a key region for important business sectors, I will work hard for the development of Gyeonggi Province and exchanges between Gyeonggi and China. Next time I visit Korea, I will come with many Chinese companies," he replied.
