Ministry of the Interior and Safety Holds 'Local Public Enterprises Day Commemoration'... 16 Government Awards and Ministerial Commendations Presented to Organizations and Individuals

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 7th that it held the '17th Local Public Enterprises Day' commemorative event at The-K Hotel in Seoul, attended by over 200 local public enterprise executives and employees.


At this commemorative event, an innovation proclamation ceremony was held under the theme "Korea Taking a New Leap Forward, A Nation Where Citizens Live Well Together," expressing the determination to become local public enterprises loved by residents and working together with them. Attendees watched a video themed on local public enterprises working with residents for the future of Korea, and 16 government awards and ministerial citations were presented to organizations and individuals who contributed to the development of local public enterprises.


For organizational awards, Korea Water Resources Corporation, which promoted fee reductions to support local governments struggling due to COVID-19, received the Presidential Citation, while Bucheon Urban Corporation and Gumi Facilities Corporation each received the Prime Minister's Citation. For individual awards, Lee Jang-won, Director of Daegu Urban Railroad Corporation, and others received commendations; Han Sang-yeol, Head of Incheon Facilities Corporation, received the Presidential Citation; and Lee Gye-dong, Manager of Cheonan Facilities Management Corporation, received the Prime Minister's Citation.


Deputy Minister Han Chang-seop expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the executives and employees of local public enterprises who have quietly dedicated and worked hard for the development of local public enterprises,” and urged, “Local public enterprises providing public services closest to residents' daily lives, such as subways, water supply and sewage, and public facilities, should do their best to become ‘local public enterprises serving residents’ and ‘local public enterprises trusted by residents’ through ‘innovation’ that meets residents’ expectations.”
