President Yoon said, "We will boldly challenge space resource mining, exploration, space traffic control, and support children and youth to realize their dreams through space," promising to establish the Aerospace Agency for systematic support. This means active investment not only in satellite and launch vehicle development but also in the development of exploration robots, space traffic control, and space experiment equipment?overall technologies needed in outer space.
President Yoon emphasized developing a lunar lander by 2031 and expanding participation in the Artemis Program, an international manned lunar exploration project led by the United States. It is expected to strengthen missions beyond simple sample collection, including resource mining, space exploration, and resource development. He also said he would listen to researchers and field voices and closely cooperate with domestic and international companies.
Meanwhile, before the meeting, President Yoon visited the satellite testing building at KARI and examined the Multipurpose Practical Satellites 6 and 7, developed for precise Earth observation.
