Screening for One of the Six Major Cancers by the End of July, Prizes for 200 Participants
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongnam Province is conducting the ‘Cancer Screening 3GO’ campaign together with the National Health Insurance Service.
The Cancer Screening 3GO campaign is a shortened phrase for ‘Get cancer screening early GO! Receive gifts GO! Take care of your health GO!’. It was promoted to reduce the mortality rate by early detection and treatment of cancer, the leading cause of death among the public.
This campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of cancer screening and to alleviate the concentration of screenings at the end of the year caused by postponing screenings. It intends to reduce difficulties caused by a surge in screening reservations and prevent a decline in the quality of national cancer screenings due to increased workload and resulting unfriendliness at screening institutions.
Residents registered in Gyeongnam who are eligible for the 2022 national cancer screening and have undergone screening for at least one of the six major national cancers by the end of July can enter a draw to receive a wrist blood pressure monitor.
Two hundred winners will be announced in October, and prizes will be sent to their addresses after notifying them via the contact information provided on the questionnaire.
The national cancer screening varies depending on birth year, age, and type of screening, targeting six cancers with high incidence rates that have high cure rates if diagnosed early and treated.
The six cancers are ▲ stomach cancer (age 40 and above, every 2 years) ▲ colorectal cancer (age 50 and above, every year) ▲ liver cancer (high-risk group age 40 and above, every 6 months) ▲ breast cancer (women age 40 and above, every 2 years) ▲ cervical cancer (women age 20 and above, every 2 years) ▲ lung cancer (high-risk group age 54 to 74, every 2 years).
Eligible individuals can receive screening by bringing their ID or the screening form sent by the National Health Insurance Service to a nearby screening institution.
Kwon Yang-geun, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau, said, “Cancer screening is not a choice but a necessity,” and added, “We hope everyone actively participates in the 3GO campaign to escape the pain of illness and the burden of treatment costs while also receiving gifts.”
