Workshop on Learning Run-up Program Held
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education is holding the '2022 Learning Deficit Recovery Learning Boost Program Workshop' to listen to voices from the field.
According to the Gwangju Office of Education on the 6th, job training sessions will be held on this day and the 13th, and consulting sessions for the implementation stage will be held on the 7th and 8th.
The Learning Boost Program is a student-tailored supplementary curriculum program operated at elementary schools to address learning deficits caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to help students recover to regular classes.
As of the first semester, 3,248 teachers are supporting 6,688 students by utilizing after-school hours.
The Office of Education aims to enhance the professionalism of teachers participating in the program and improve students' efficient learning abilities through this workshop, moving toward educational recovery hope.
It also plans to provide a time of recovery that serves as a 'brief rest' for teachers who have been dedicated to educational recovery.
The job training on this day was held under the theme 'Becoming a Teacher Who Communicates by Understanding the Hidden Needs in Children's Behavior.'
Teachers spent meaningful time learning how to fundamentally and concretely understand children's behaviors and how to respond effectively.
Kang Sunhee, a basic academic skills teacher at the Gwangju Dongbu Office of Education, said, "I always think about 'How can we actively engage students in class to improve their academic skills?'" and added, "I realized once again that to stimulate such learning motivation, it starts with understanding the diverse needs of students."
Superintendent Lee Jeongseon stated, "Our students each have their own desire to learn. Our teachers spare no effort during classes and after school to ensure these desires lead to learning and growth," and added, "We will listen carefully to voices from the field and actively support teachers to work together to create 'Gwangju Education that Does Not Give Up on Any Child.'"
