Seongjeon-myeon Moonlight Hanok Village, Wonnam Village, and Other Scenic Developments
[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Two projects, including the Namdo Specialized Landscape and the Tourism Site and Local Commercial Area Vitality Landscape Creation Project, were finally selected in the landscape creation contest hosted by Jeollanam-do, securing a total project cost of 1.2 billion KRW for Gangjin-gun.
The project site is the Seongjeon-myeon area, a representative tourist attraction in Gangjin, including Wolchulsan, Baegundongwon Forest, Wolnamsa Temple, and the birthplace of Lee Han-young.
As part of the Namdo Specialized Landscape Creation Project, a total of 1 billion KRW will be invested in the Dalbit Hanok Village, Wolnam Village, and Anun Village areas to create a specialized landscape linked with the Wolchulsan trekking program by installing tourist information signs, creating rest areas and walking paths, transforming the Lee Han-young birthplace into a historical park, and maintaining the trail around the Seongjeon green tea fields.
Additionally, the Tourism Site and Local Commercial Area Vitality Landscape Creation Project, with a total budget of 200 million KRW, will focus on improving the surrounding landscape in the Wolnam Soryuji area of Seongjeon-myeon by planting trees, constructing observation decks, maintaining bamboo groves, installing stone stairs, and refurbishing pergolas and benches.
The county plans to complete the design in the second half of this year, start full-scale construction by the end of this year, and finish before spring 2023.
Gangjin County Governor Kang Jin-won said, “This project will be promoted in connection with the Wolchulsan Gyeongpodae tourism attraction project, a core project of the 8th elected administration,” and added, “Once the landscape creation project is completed, the Wolchulsan area’s tourism resources will be enriched, and more tourists are expected to visit Gangjin than ever before.”
