[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Community Security Council of Jukbyeon-myeon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, and the Jukbyeon-myeon Village Chiefs Association carried out volunteer activities on the 5th for disaster victims living in temporary housing due to the wildfire damage in Jukbyeon-myeon.
On that day, the volunteer activity was conducted by purchasing outdoor DIY bench assembly furniture to save costs, using 4.21 million KRW donated by employees of Maetan 2-dong, Suwon City, and a federation of eight organizations. The furniture was assembled directly by members of the Jukbyeon-myeon Community Security Council and the Jukbyeon-myeon Village Chiefs Association.
The completed outdoor assembled benches will be delivered to 21 households residing in temporary housing for disaster victims within Jukbyeon-myeon, according to the donors' wishes.
Ji Young-geun, the private chairman of the Jukbyeon-myeon Community Security Council, said, "The village chiefs from 15 villages in Jukbyeon-myeon and the council members actively participated in the volunteer activities to support disaster victims struggling due to the large wildfire in Uljin last March," adding, "We will continue to provide ongoing volunteer activities for neighbors in need of housing environment improvements."
Jang Se-seok, the head of the myeon office, said, "I hope our warm hearts reach the disaster victims who are in despair due to the wildfire, and I thank all volunteers who participated in the volunteer activities despite the hot weather during the rainy season."
