Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Safety Inspections' at 7 Water Parks Including Yongin Caribbean Bay

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct a comprehensive inspection of safety management and water quality control at seven water play-type amusement facilities (water parks) in the province, including Caribbean Bay in Yongin, until the end of August.

The main inspection items include ▲checking for defects in water play devices such as slides ▲management status of hazardous materials and operation status of various facilities and fire-fighting equipment ▲whether safety personnel with appropriate qualifications, such as lifeguards, are deployed ▲presence of depth indicators, water quality testing equipment, and water rescue equipment ▲attachment of drain covers in water play facilities such as wave pools and lazy rivers, following a recent incident related to a drain at a water park ▲compliance with summer quarantine rules in preparation for the resurgence of COVID-19, etc.

Minor issues or violations of quarantine measures such as not wearing masks indoors will be guided on-site and immediately addressed.

Additionally, items requiring improvement based on safety inspection results will be continuously managed for compliance. The remaining 32 small-scale water play-type amusement facilities will be inspected independently by city and county authorities.

Choi Yong-hoon, Director of the Tourism Division of the province, emphasized, "With the lifting of usage restrictions due to COVID-19, the number of water park visitors is expected to surge this year. We will conduct thorough inspections jointly with professional inspection agencies to ensure residents can enjoy safely. We will continue to do our best in managing water play-type amusement facilities and preventing safety accidents."
