[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] DxVx announced on the 5th that it has introduced Philips' UV-C air sterilizer since June to prepare for the endemic era and has entered the daily quarantine market.
DxVx is in the process of becoming a company that provides total solutions for responding to new and mutant infectious diseases, ranging from infectious disease diagnosis to prevention, including participation in a next-generation vaccine platform development consortium based on genome analysis and the development of in vitro diagnostic products. The recent entry into the daily quarantine market is also known to be a new business promoted as part of this effort.
The Philips UV-C air sterilizer stand type introduced this time is a product developed by Philips, which has specialized in sterilization research for over 35 years, based on technology and safety. It uses an airflow method that inhales, sterilizes, and discharges air, and sterilizes quickly and harmlessly to the human body by destroying the DNA and RNA of viruses, bacteria, and mold in the air through UV-C lamps.
Clinical results showing more than 99% elimination of the COVID-19 virus through joint research with Boston University in the United States were also published in the world-renowned scientific journal Nature in 2020. According to the evaluation by the Korea Testing Laboratory, the reduction rates of airborne viruses and airborne bacteria reached 99.4% and 99.7%, respectively, and the product's technology has been recognized both domestically and internationally.
Additionally, this product sterilizes solely with UV-C (ultraviolet light) without using any disinfectants or chemicals, so it is harmless to the human body due to the absence of toxic residues. Regarding ozone, which is cited as a potential risk factor for air sterilizers, this product has been confirmed to have excellent safety.
This product has been verified for ozone-related safety to meet European standards, which are five times stricter than those in Korea for allowable ozone levels in the air, and has been installed in public schools in Germany, known for its strict standards, since 2021, faithfully serving the function of spatial quarantine in classrooms crowded with students.
As Philips air sterilizers have become known as safe and eco-friendly infectious disease prevention tools harmless to the human body, they have recently been actively used in school classrooms in New Zealand and have been launched in Japan, recording considerable sales performance.
The UV-C lamp, a core element of sterilization and disinfection, can be used for 9,000 hours, eliminating inconvenience caused by frequent replacements, and is known to have price competitiveness with high cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, the Philips UV-C air sterilizer stand type boasts excellent performance by sterilizing 95% of indoor air within one hour, and demand is expected to be high in hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, and research institutes where many patients visit and infection prevention or sterile condition maintenance is necessary.
A DxVx official stated, “As daily quarantine is emphasized in everyday life after the pandemic, the primary target market will be centered on hospitals, research institutes, and schools, but demand is expected to gradually expand across the entire living environment. Starting with the introduction of the Philips UV-C air sterilizer, we plan to lead the market by launching various daily quarantine products such as personal and living hygiene products in the second half of the year.”
Meanwhile, since the new management team joined, DxVx has continued its performance improvement trend, recording a quarterly operating profit turnaround in three years through overall business restructuring. The recently established healthcare solution business team is responsible for supplying various bio-healthcare products and goods to domestic and overseas markets.
