Inspection of Recycled Tires, Fire Extinguishers, Vehicle Cleanliness and Disinfection, and Safe Driving Management
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 5th that "a joint safety inspection in the bus sector identified a total of 167 deficiencies in the field of safe operation management."
The detected issues include 9 cases of poor vehicle cleanliness, 15 cases of missing mandatory disinfection stickers, 1 case of poor compressed natural gas (CNG) management, 3 cases of faulty fire extinguishers, and 72 cases of unauthorized vehicle operation.
The province issued improvement orders and on-site correction administrative measures for the detected issues to ensure prompt rectification and correction.
The joint inspection was conducted from April to June targeting 96 city bus companies, 138 village bus companies, 216 charter bus companies, 68 special passenger transport companies, 14 terminals, and 22 public garages within the province.
The main inspection items included the use of retreaded tires, operation status of exit door safety devices, availability of fire extinguishers and emergency hammers, vehicle cleanliness, drivers' mask-wearing compliance, and safe operation management.
The inspection was carried out by forming a joint inspection team in cooperation with the province, city and county governments, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and local fire stations, visiting city bus company garages directly.
