[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) has begun construction of a multipurpose gymnasium in Guro Digital Complex.

On the 5th, Guro-gu announced, "We are preparing a multipurpose community sports center so that office workers in Guro Digital Complex and nearby residents can engage in sports activities close to home."

Guro Digital Complex, also known as G-Valley, is a representative industrial complex in Guro densely populated with small and medium-sized venture companies. Surrounded by a forest of buildings, there was a lack of leisure facilities such as sports and green spaces and infrastructure/support facilities for company employees.

To address this, the district decided to build a multipurpose gymnasium on the site located within the Digital Complex with good accessibility, after land use consultations with the Korea Testing Laboratory (87 Digital-ro 26-gil, Guro-gu).

The gymnasium will be constructed with a total budget of about 15.3 billion KRW, including national and city funds, covering a total floor area of 4,840㎡, with 2 basement floors and 5 above-ground floors.

The basement floors 1 and 2 will be parking lots, and floors 1 to 5 above ground will house multipurpose sports facilities such as a fitness center, equipment Pilates, and circuit fit.

The district started construction on the 27th of last month and plans to complete the work by the end of next year.

A Guro-gu official said, "Once the community sports center is established, the Digital Complex is expected to become a hub for work-life balance where work and health are managed simultaneously," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create various spaces where residents can maintain their health and enjoy leisure activities close to home."

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) has established a solid stepping stone for households facing housing crises.

The district announced that it will operate emergency temporary housing called ‘Didimdol Housing’ for low-income vulnerable households at risk of losing their homes.

The purpose is to help residents who suddenly lose their living places stay comfortably without economic burden for a while and prepare a new home.

Didimdol Housing is a project that provides temporary shelter for households at risk of eviction due to urgent reasons such as natural disasters, rent arrears, domestic violence, or demolition.

To operate Didimdol Housing, the district leased four purchased rental houses from Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation in April.

After signing a business agreement with the operating organization, Together Sharing and Connection, and renovating the houses, full-scale operation of Didimdol Housing began last month.

Didimdol Housing consists of four units: two 3-room units (54.84㎡, 51.87㎡), one 1.5-room unit (38.68㎡), and one studio unit (16.97㎡). Each house is equipped with essential home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and bedding.

Eligible residents include recipients of basic national livelihood security, near-poverty groups, single-parent families, and emergency welfare support recipients at risk of losing housing. However, emergency welfare recipients must currently be receiving support or have completed support within the last three months.

The standard stay period is up to six months, but in urgent cases, it can be extended once for up to 12 months.

The district covers the deposit and rent, while residents are responsible for utility bills such as electricity and water.

The district receives recommendations for residents through local community centers and social welfare facilities and selects final residents through the Gangseo Housing Safety Comprehensive Center’s housing counseling office. There are no restrictions based on household type, but priority is given to households with children.

The district plans to provide continuous counseling and customized support to help residents live stably and offer various housing welfare information to help them secure new stable homes.

A district official said, "We hope Didimdol Housing will be a stepping stone for residents facing sudden housing crises," adding, "We will continue to strengthen various housing welfare services so vulnerable residents can become self-reliant in a stable housing environment."
