[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] With Chobok (the first of the three hottest days in summer) about ten days away, Lotte Mart will hold a large-scale chicken and duck meat event under the theme "Early Celebration of Chobok" at all stores from the 7th to the 13th.
As a representative product, Lotte Mart has exclusively planned and is selling a large-sized animal welfare Dakbokkeumtang (braised spicy chicken stew) product in collaboration with Harim. This product was designed to stabilize consumer prices by increasing the size by 30% (to 1.3kg) from the existing 1kg package, which was sold at 10,480 KRW, while lowering the price by 14% to 8,980 KRW.
Lotte Mart confirmed through prior consultation with Harim that 1.3kg is the most suitable size for home cooking among sizes larger than the existing 1kg, and agreed on unit price and quantity under exclusive operation conditions.
The animal welfare product is a representative system of ethical livestock farming, expanded in line with Lotte Mart’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management policy. It prohibits the use of insecticides to prevent water and soil pollution, lowers breeding density to reduce air pollution, and Lotte Mart carefully selects and sells only chicken products that have both animal welfare certification and antibiotic-free certification.
Kim Wonseok, Lotte Mart’s Livestock MD, said, “We planned a large-scale Chobok event a week in advance to achieve both price stabilization and health benefits,” adding, “We hope consumers overcome the difficult summer with an affordable meal.”
