Comprehensive Survey Conducted on 112 Landslide-Prone Areas
[Jangheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that it has inspected landslide-prone areas before the full-scale rainy season begins and completed all four ongoing erosion control projects.
The county conducted a full survey of 112 landslide-prone areas this year and provided evacuation orders and shelter education for residents adjacent to these vulnerable zones.
Furthermore, as the risk of landslides increases due to localized heavy rains and typhoons caused by climate change, Jangheung has taken preemptive measures to inspect landslide-prone districts before the rainy season to prevent disasters.
Nearby residents were also educated on actions to take and evacuation sites when a landslide warning is issued to prepare in advance and prevent forest disasters.
More than 700 million won was invested in erosion control projects, completing two erosion control dams, one stream conservation site, and one mountain erosion control site by the end of June.
Kim Seong, the governor of Jangheung-gun, emphasized, “Special management is necessary for areas with a high risk of landslides in preparation for the summer heavy rains,” and added, “We will do our best to protect the safety and lives of our residents from forest disasters.”
